Time spend with a friend...

One of my favorites postcards are those related to drinks, especially red wines.
I just love this simple & beautiful picture with wise words ("Zeit, die mit einem Freund verbracht wird, ist niemals verloren"). That means "Time spent with a friend is never lost". That reminds me of another saying: The most precious gift you can give is YOUR time because you give a piece of your own life that can never be taken back.
The card came with two very lovely stamps:
The 62 Euro-Cents (2013) shows a glass of wine featuring Southern Styria, one of the Austrian Wine Regions and Sauvignon Blanc wine variety.
The 80 Euro-Cents (2015) is one of Europa stamps with Matador wooden toy construction set.

Thank YOU, Marianne !

Maria Gern Pilgrimage Church

I received this card in a RR exchange (Austria x World # 40). It is a Roman Catholic Pilgrimage church in Berchtesgaden Municipality (Bavarian Alps), very close to Austrian border. In 1680 a small church was built with here, replacing a smaller chapel. The Statue of Virgin, which was attributed miraculous effect, attracted many pilgrims from Berchtesgaden, but also from Austria, in to such an extent that in 1691 a hostel for pilgrims and a corner shop with candles were established. There are many churches in Austria and Bavaria with Maria Gern name and about this one you can read more in German.
The stamp (ND 2015) shows a wasp spider (Wespenspinne) and have a face value of 80 euro-cents.

Thank You, Sarah !

Marchés de Noël

During this time of the year everybody love Christmas Markets. I've never been to a BIG serious one (only small, local ones in my country that I won't count). This one show (I guess) the Strasbourg Market. I have to reasons to believe this. In the background there seems to be the Strasbourg Cathedral and secondly this card is signed by PostCrossing members in Strasbourg Meeting (13 December 2014).
The main stamp (no dated) and suitable for 20g letter shows a Ribeauvillé house façade. The others 0,01 & 0,05 € (not shown in the picture) are common stamps showing Marianne de la Jeunesse.

Thank YOU, Niklot !

LTS Boeing 757-200

Yesterday I've received an official postcard from Germany showing a vintage Boeing 757-200 airplane operated by LTS. Lufttransport Sud (LTS) was an airline based in Munich and it flew from May 1984 until 1998 when it merged with LTU. In 2009 LTU ceased operations and merged with Air Berlin.
About the stamp I've already wrote here.

Thank YOU, Beate !

Flughafen Airport

Thins thank you card was sent from Kassel, Germany, 200 km far from Frankfurt.
The huge Frankfurt Flughafen Airport is the busiest passenger traffic in Germany and and the third in Europe after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports. In 2012-2013 winter, this airport served 264 destinations in 113 countries, making it the airport with the most international destinations in the world.
Between 2005 and 2007 a large Airbus A380 maintenance facility was built at Frankfurt Airport because Lufthansa wanted to station their future A380-aircraft-fleet here. Their first A380 went into operation in June 2010 and was baptized... Frankfurt am Main. And the second one was called Munich.
About the stamp I've already wrote here.

Thank You, Rumi !

Rostock Harbor

Today card came from Germany and it's an bird-eye view of the Rostck, the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Town's roots date back to 11th century, when a group of Elbe Slavs founded a settlement at the Warnow river called Roztoc (which means broadening of a river). In 14th century the city joined the Hanseatic League and this move had a very positive effect of city's development. In  1419 The University of Rostock was founded, one of the oldest in the World and Europe. In modern times (WWII) large parts of the central city were destroyed by Allied bombing in 1942 and 1944. Nowadays it's one of the German industrial ports at Baltic Sea.
In the card there is the City's harbor (Stadthafen) and in the left the St. Peter Church (Petrikirche). It's a popular meeting place to sit by the water and enjoy the evening
The ND 0,75 € postage was issued in 2013 as a commemorative stamp: 50 years of Fehmarn Sound Bridge (50 Jahre Fehmarnsundbrücke).

Thank You, Holger !

Trains come from Germany

Today's card meets totally one of my favorite theme: trains.
And when I say totally I mean the stamps as well.
The train operates on the narrow gauge railway Niebüll–Dagebüll in Northern Germany. The picture is taken in at the end of July 2010 in Dagebüll Mole (on the ferry pier) which is the route's terminus point.
But I find it unusual how they combine the train: the Prusian old locomotive (1923) with the much newer wagons.
As I've metioned before, the stamps are in the theme, too.
Issued in february 2012, they celebrate 125 years of narrow gauge railways in the Harz Mountains (Schmalspurbahnen im Harz). The Harz Narrow Gauge Railways (German: Harzer Schmalspurbahnen) or HSB is a network of 1,000 mm gauge railways in the Harz mountains, in central Germany. It connects the principal towns of Wernigerode, Nordhausen and Quedlinburg and several smaller towns in the area with about 140 kilometres of track with 48 stations and stops, much of which is steeply graded and picturesque.

Many Thanks, Melita !
